Proof of Income from South African Tax Authorities (SARS)

Notice of Assessment (ITA34) as Proof of Income

The Notice of Assessment (ITA34) from SARS (South African Revenue Service) shows a breakdown of the different types of income and deductions for a specific tax year. It will show the totals and not the names of the sources of income.

This form can be obtained from your SARS eFiling profile. Click on "Returns" at the top, then on the left-hand side click "SARS Correspondence" then click "Request Historic Notices". You can request a Notice of Assessment there.

Income Tax Return (ITR12)

An ITR12 return is an income tax return for an individual that stipulates all the income and allowable deductions claimed by the taxpayer for a year of assessment. It can be used in addition to the ITA34 (above) and will provide more details on the different sources of income.

You can print a copy of the tax return from your SARS eFiling profile. Click on "Returns" at the top, then on the left-hand side click "Returns History" then click "Personal Income Tax (ITR12)". You can then select the relevant tax return and print it to PDF.
